DIY Sewing box

THE LIFE-CHANGING MAGIC OF TIDYING by Marie Kondo

Since I can remember I always loved tidy and clean space around me. I would organize my toys, move furniture around every couple of months, I would even make a detailed list of what I need to clean and only after finishing my list would go and meet my friends. I remember even tidying up my mum's desk and throwing out stuff thinking it is rubbish, only later discovered that it was important document for my mum's dissertation and many years of hard work. I never stopped, always cleaning and organizing my own and my family member space in the house.

When I discover this book I realized that a lot of my crazy organizing experience is similar to Marie Kondo, Her experiences described in the book is so similar to my own, that made me wonder I am not the only one like this.

Marie Kondo in her book takes readers step-by-step through her revolutionary KonMari Method for simplifying, storing and organizing space around you. I am not sure why I picked this book from the shelve at the book store, but after reading it I feel there is something missing in my life just now, I do not feel inspired and creative, there is something that need to be changed. And I always have believed that if you want your mind be tidy and clear, must start with space around you.


Kopš spēju sevi atcerēties, man vienmēr ir paticis tīrīt un kārtot vidi kas man apārt. Es bieži kārtoju un organizēju savas mantas, pārbīdiju mēbeles savā istabā ik pēc pāris mēnešiem. Es pat izveidoju detalīzētu sarakstu ar lietām kas man pa dienu ir jāsakārto un jāiztra, tikai tad devos ārā satikt savus draugus. Es atminos kā vienreiz nolēmu sakārtot mammas rakstāmgaldu, izsviežot ārā papīrus un manuprāt nevajadzīgus dokumentus. Tikai vēlāk noskaidroju, ka šie, manuprāt, nevajadzīgie dokumenti ir mammai nozīmīgi materiāli un smags darbs, vairāku gadu garumā. Bet tas mani nekad neapstādināja, es turpināju tīrīt on organizēt gan savas, gan pārējo ģimenes locekļu istabas.

Kad es atklāju šo grāmatu, sapratu ka neesmu vienīgā, kas šādi ir rīkojusies visu savu dzīvi. Marie Kondo pieredze, ko apraksta grāmatā ir ļoti līdzīga, pat vienāda.

Marie Kondo savā grāmatā apraksta soli pa solim KonMari Metodi kā vienkāršot, uzglabāt un organizēt lietas un vidi sev apkārt. Man nav ne jausmas kādēļ  es izvēlējos šo grāmatu, bet pēc izlasīšanas es sajutu, ka ir kaut kas ko es vēlos mainīt un kaut kas pietrūkst manā dzīvē. Es jūtos iedvesmota ko mainīt un pilnveidot savu radošumu, sākot ar sakārtotu vidi sev apkārt. Es vienmēr esmu uzskatijusi ka sakārtota vide palīdz sakātot domas.

Fairy Garden

Home made dog treats

After my puppy Bubu being ill, and not sure from what dog food or treats, I decided it is best for her to have a home made treats, that I know are good for her.

So I tried out this easy recipe and Bubu loves these treats! Also it is cheaper than buying in a store.

You will need:

• 1 cup of whole wheat flour
• 2/3 cup of oats
• 2 jars of baby food; Bubu likes the carrot and broccoli, you can choose any you like, but be sure to do research what foods to avoid.

Mix all ingredients together until a dry dough is formed. Then roll out the dough and cut, I used heart shaped cookie cutter, but if I am in hurry I just roll small balls. Bake in 200 degrees (Fan oven) until treats are dry and hard.

Place your dog treats in a jar. Hope your dogs will love them.

Pēc tam kad mans kucēns Bubu nejutās labi, jo biju iedevusi veikalā nopirktus suņu našķus, nolēmu, ka labprāt pagatavotu gardumus pati.

Izmēģināju šo vienkāršo recepti un Bubu dievina savus jaunos gardumus. Kā bonuss tam visam arī pagatavošana ir lētāka, nekā veikalā pirktajiem suņu cepumiem.

Lai pagatavotu suņu cepumus tev būs nepieciešams:

• 1 glāze pilngraudu miltu
• 2/3 glāze auzu pārslas
• 2 buņdžiņas bēbīšu pārtikas, Bubu vislabāk patīk burkāni un brokoļi, bet var izvēlēties ko vien sirds kāro, bet vispirms noskaidro no kuriem ēdieniem izvairīties, jo daži pārtikas produkti suņiem nav ieteicami.

Samaisa visas sastāvdaļas kopā, kamēr masa nelīp pie rokām. Izrullē mīklu, izmantojot cepumu formiņas izveido cepumus. Cep 200 grādu temperatūrā, kamēr cepumi sausi un cieti.

Cepumu glabāšani var izmantot stikla trauku pēc savas izvēles.

DIY Seashell Candles

Making seashell candles can be a great summer project, to add an extra decoration to your garden or Holiday party dinner table.

You will need:

• Clean shells
• Tea light candles
• candle coloring dye (optional)
• candle scents (optional)
• old pot

Remove wicks from tea light candles. Melt wax in the pot and add coloring and scent to the melted wax. Pour wax  into shells and place wick in the middle, let to dry for 15-20 minutes. Enjoy your beautiful candles.

Summer seems to be filled with weddings and other occasions where people would expect to receive gifts. Knowing how difficult it is to shop for a gift, the most reasonable gift sometimes seems to be a money gift. But not always gift in an envelope is the most creative gift idea.

I have listed my 3 most favorite money gift ideas how you can make money gift look more interesting and memorable


Vasara šķiet piepildīta ar kāzām un svinīgiem notikumiem. Ļoti bieži kā dāvana tiek izvēlēta naudas summa aploksnē. Bet bieži vien ir vēlme izmantot savu radošumu un padarīt šāda veida dāvanu daudz interesantāku.
Esmu apkopojusi manuprāt 3 visinteresantākos dāvanas veidus:

1. Origami swans in the Jewelry box

You will need:

• Jewelry box or box of your choice, I purchased mine in local Wood furniture and house interior store for £8. But I can guarantee you can find something similar almost everywhere, there is some ideas from online stores; etsy or Zara Home.
• 2 Money bills, here you can choose a different currency or amount you are willing to gift.
• Craft paper, I used some paper from my craft supplies to line inside of my box. This part can be optional.

How to fold origami swan:

• 

After your paper swans are folded place them into box, secure them with some blue tack and you have a nice gift for the newlyweds.

2. Origami hearts in the Jewelry box

You will need:

• Craft paper of your choice
• Jewelry box, some ideas etsy or Zara Home
• At least 2 Money bills, I used American dollar bills, but my favorite is euro, since they come in different colors.

You can have 2 or many hearts I choose to have 2 since it is a wedding gift.

3. Origami newlyweds in photo frame

You will need:

• Craft paper, of your choice.
• Photo frame, of your choice and color, I used 13x18cm photo frame.
• 4 Money bills, I prefer using euro bills, since they come in different colors.

In the videos they use dollar bills, but I used euro bills and it works just fine.

Now you have to cut your craft paper to fit into photo frame, place your folded dress and shirt + trousers in center. and close the photo frame. It should stay in place with no attachments, but if it does not you can use some blue tack to secure your money origami in place. This project has endless variations, you can use just one (dress or shirt) for graduation gift or Birthday, for someone you find hard to shop for.
